About the College
The College of Engineering and Information Technology started to admit students at the beginning of the academic year 2005/2006 starting with two programs only; Software Engineering and Computer Science. Although there was not a significant number of students at the beginning, the number started to increase rapidly in the following semesters, especially in the Software Engineering program. At the beginning of the academic year 2007/2008 and due to the market demands in the Gulf region, the Networks and Communications Engineering and Computer Engineering programs were launched which attracted a large number of students.
The College of Engineering and Information Technology is committed to the ambitious vision to be one of the leading colleges in Information Technology in the Gulf adding to the distinctive contributions in the field of education, scientific research, and community service in addition to being a prominent place to study and work. As well as being committed to its mission, the college has set, since its inception, to provide services to students by offering high-quality programs that are implemented in a distinct learning environment to enable them to take leading positions as leaders in the field of Information Technology.
The College of Engineering and Information Technology has chosen to offer the optimum education performance, as is the case in other colleges at Al Ain University of Science and Technology, in tandem with the standards of the commission of Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates.
In order to maintain the quality of teaching, the college has recruited a group of outstanding teachers that are interested in developing teaching methodologies based on feedback received from multiple channels to assess the teaching process, teachers, and various resources supporting the teaching process. The assessment contributors are primarily students, alumni, and faculty members.
Scientific research has a good margin of interest at the college and is available for those who are interested. Moreaver, a faculty member’s annual evaluation required for job continuation or promotion combines both teaching and continuous research. It should be noted that scientific research is not limited to faculty members only, but the area is open to students as well.
